No body can blame the tigers, elephants and the national park authorities There are also many bird watching opportunities available in this park, over 580 species of birds are recorded here and amongst them more than 50 species are of resident and migratory birds. Peacock, Kaleej pheasant, black partridge, Pallas’s fishing, eagle, white collared falconet, stork billed kingfisher, wall creeper, brown fish owl, brown eared and black bulbul and several species of woodpeckers and parakeets are some of the attractive birds found in the Corbett National Park. The avifauna is interesting and diverse because of the overlap between the high altitude and the plains. Most of the water birds are the migratory birds and arrive in winters. Some of them are the graylag, bareheaded goose, duck, grepe, snipe, sandpiper, gull and wagtail. The residents include darters, cormorants, egrets, herons, the black-necked stork and the spur winged lapwings.

The wildlife found here ranges across a broad spectrum of species and type. Jim Corbett national park is an ideal place to trace those pug marks that are the classic sun sign of the tiger activity. The park has four kinds of deers, these are the barking deer, para, kakkar, and the well known spotted deer chital. One can also finds leopards, cats and fishing cats meandering freewheeling. In the lower regions of the park there are animals like sloth bear, Himalaya black bear, dole or wild dog and jackals. Some of the other park residents are palm civet, Indian gray mongoose, common otter, blacknaped hare and porcupine, long-snouted, fish-eating gharial crocodile Goat, antelopes, langur and rhesus monkeys. Monkeys, of course, ease out your grueling task of catching a glimpse of tigers because they screech a lot on seeing them.

The wild life found here is not only tiger, Chita or leopard. Apart from these, lesser cats such as the leopard cat, jungle cat, and fishing cat are also found here. The animals like Chital, Sambhar, and various other Deer species can be seen and the dense jungle are explored in the two-hour elephant safari. Jeep Safari is the most convenient mode of exploring the Corbett national park, and can be started from Ramnagar. One should always remember to bring binoculars, keep silence and not wear the bright colours or apply strong perfumes.

Ramnagar is situated in the rich farm belt of Terai, on the southeastern fringes of the great forests, the busy market town of Ramnagar is the main administrative centre for Corbett National Park and Project Tiger. This small town inhabited in the Terai region amidst the dense forest cover, is the main centre of administration near the national park. At Lohachaur, 15-kms away from the River Kosi, the sport buffs have a wide scope of angling and fishing Mahseer. One can book a fishing trip too.
