Kedarnath Temple In Kedarnath

The temple is believed to be more than 1000 years old and built by the Pandavas. The present temple is built by adi guru shankracharaya which lies adjacent to the old temple built by pandavas. The walls of the exquisitely architectured temple are embellished with figures of deities and scenes from mythology. The temple has a conical lingam - the main idol, a statue of Nandi - the celestial bull, a ‘garbha griha’ for worship and a ‘mandap’ for assemblies of pilgrims and visitors.

Shankaracharya Samadhi In Kedarnath

It is a final resting place of Adi Guru Shankaracharya which is located just behind the Kedarnath temple. It is said that after establishing four sacred Dhams in India, he went into his samadhi at an early age of 32 years.
